The Manipulative Mind
In
ancient times humans didn’t have the scientific explanation for life, nature
and reality.
The level of consciousness what was represented
by them at that time allowed them only to have a limited degree of
comprehension of things in their lives.
Eventually evolution and the expansion
of consciousness made humanity capable to not only understand simple things but
also to establish concepts for abstract ideas just like the superior beings or
gods.
Related to that still many things had been waiting for
explanation for example the thunder and thunderbolts.
They had no understanding why it was
happening in the sky and started to explain it with that the gods were angry at
them.
Even though this concept was not so pleasuring but finally gave them an answer and reference point what was happening.
Also this unscientific explanation was not even close to the truth – and didn’t really served them because then they had to deal with the anger of those gods at them – but at least was an explanation and with that the mind did its job, was looking for certainty and got certainty regardless that it was really helpful or not.In our modern life it is still happening. We prefer to choose the known over the unknown, the certain over the uncertain and the predictable over the unpredictable. Most of the time we don't even realize that these decisions are being made on the unconscious level in our minds.
Whenever we think about making major changes in any area of our lives we have this feeling of resistance and second opinion not to do them.
Many times we stay in unsatisfying jobs
or relationships and we give us the excuse that they are known, certain and
predictable.
We obey the mind which is holding us back just to stay
safe although doing that doesn’t serve us at all.
How many times we listen to our minds giving us a
whole story with possible negative outcomes why not to do those changes…
And how many times we don’t listen to our hearts giving
us a simple answer to our questions in the language of feelings.
Do it when it feels good and don’t do it when it
doesn’t feel good…
We all have the purpose in life to learn, grow, have
experiences and evolve.
We
also have the duty and responsibility to be in charge with full capacity.
It is our choice whether we obey the
mind and execute its orders without questioning or reclaim our power and gain full
control over our lives.
A good way to start this whole process is to look
within ourselves, calm our minds with doing meditation and listen to the
thoughts, ideas, intuitions and feelings arising.
If we do this by imagining ourselves as independent
observers looking at us with no attachment then eventually we will be able to
discern the authentic and useful information – through those thoughts, ideas,
intuitions and feelings – guiding us to the right direction and the ones coming
through the ego and wouldn’t serve but hold us back in the process of becoming
conscious and be in charge in our lives.
Also the part of this process is to train
ourselves to stay in the present moment without letting the mind drive us into
the past or the future. Doing this we can be aware of our surroundings and
what’s happening around us and also being aware what’s happening inside of us.
All we need is determination, belief and
perseverance.
With all of that success is on the way!
